What is the difference between a suspect and a prospect?
What is the difference between a suspect and a prospect? A Prospect - someone who has been identified that meets a certian minimum criteria that would indicate with a high percentage probability that they "could" be a buyer of your offer. It doesn't presuppose that you are always correct. It is also important to note that if you are selling cars and someone just bought a new car -- they are still a prospect (as a driver) although there is no sale to be made. A Suspect -- a suspect is someone who could be a prospect -- such as someone who opts into your mailing list. This could obviously be simply someone who is curious or even a competitor -- the fact that they opted in at least says they have some interest in the subject but they are not qualifed as someone who could potentially buy.
